PL-Mini Valkyrie: Compact, lightweight, bright and rechargeable.
When it comes to weapons lights there are a lot of options and a lot of features to consider in addition to what your price point is and what applications you plan on using it for.
Lumens are one of the first considerations, how many are too many? The idea that you can have a light that is too bright might not be one of the first things that pops into your mind but it should. If you pop on your 1,000 lumen tac light in your 12’x12′ bedroom with white walls at 2AM you’ll not only blind the bad guy coming through your door but yourself and anyone else in the room. Yes, you can have too many lumens.
Conversely if you are outside standing at your front door and you shine your light 100′ away at the sidewalk, that 1,000 lumens is going to be positive and no longer a liability.
Other considerations range from size and weight to durability and functionality.
The PL-Mini is a 400 lumen light that has a small “hotspot” and reaches out to 75 meters (240+ feet). IMO a “best of both worlds” for a pistol light. I say that because 400 lumens, while at the very top end, IMO for a defensive light being used in the house, still works outside at what would be normal distances for a handgun. i.e. the chance of sighting in on a bad guy more than 25 yards away, let alone 75 yards away is highly unlikely for virtually any situation a person could envision.
400 Lumens with a tight hot spot means you have no problem properly illuminating a subject at 5 yards or 50 yards with enough light. In my experience anyway here around the hacienda.
The rest of the numbers speak for themselves (see below) and in our testing are accurate.

Personally I couldn’t be happier with the testing we’ve done, the only ding I would give isn’t on the light itself but on the lack of manufactures who are dragging their feet on making holsters compatible with this light. As the popularity continues to grow, I think we’ll see more and more options come available.
