The brand new Masada ORP from IWI US.
We’ll cover accuracy, reliability and even throw it up into the air to test this new Optics Ready Pistol.
Rumors of the Masada hitting the US market have been swirling for awhile now and over the past two months we’ve been testing one for IWI here at the hacienda. I really wanted to chime in on a few of the occasional posts I’d come across but being under an NDA, I had to keep my thoughts to myself. Now, I can finally spill all of that tea.
During the past two months we worked with IWI while testing this handgun and as they spooled up for their production models. As of this article, we have 1,450 rounds through this handgun total. Approximately 700 of which were on the first frame it came with. All subsequent rounds have gone through the second frame.
A followup video on the Trijicon RMR 2 HRS will be going live in about a week.
During testing we, along with some other testers, noticed that not all pistol mounted lights in the US market would work with the older generation trigger guard design so a new frame was made and that’s what we used to complete this review.
With the current frame all major lights, such as from Surefire and Streamlight, are compatible and fit properly. IWI was also able to maintain a generous space in the trigger guard which is still as large or larger than most other handguns in it’s size range.
Unlike some other factory optics ready pistols, the Masada ships with 4 different plates from the factory so it’s ready for your optic right out of the box. You won’t have to buy any extra plates if you have one of the more popular optics.
Included plates are for Trijicon, Vortex, Sig and Leupold. Crossover from other companies will allow several other dots from companies like Holosun, Bushnell and Nikon to fit these plates as well. Keep in mind individual foot prints within company product lines can vary, so just like with other mounting plates and systems, you’ll want to check for your specific optic.
