The GII series from DPMS has been a huge success and for good reason, they redesigned their .308 AR platform and did a fantastic job.
We’ve covered the GII Recon in a previous article and it’s still doing very well, today we are going to take a look at the Compact Hunter of the same GII series.
The compact Hunter features a 16″ Lightweight teflon coated stainless barrel with a target crown, carbon fiber free float tube style hand guard and a collapsible B5 systems stock. It also has the DPMS 2 stage match trigger as well along with a Houge style grip.
At 7.76 pounds it’s fairly light weight for a semi automatic AR style rifle and has an overall length of 33″ with the stock collapsed. It comes with a 4 round magazine but will accept any standard SR25 type magazine including the polymer .308 PMAG.
We’ve had great luck with the GII series and the Hunter continues those experiences.
Moving forward we will be doing a longer range review of GII, both the Recon and Hunter, going out to 300 yards and hopefully beyond in the near future.
