Video games continue to strive for authenticity and realistic firearms and recently PUBG made push to bring one of the most modern adaptations of the AR-15 / AK-47 to their game. The Mk47 Mutant, from CMMG, is an AR variant with many similar components to the AR15 that is chambered in 7.62×39 and also takes standard AK47 magazines.
We have several videos up on the Mutant so please feel free to go back through our videos and articles here at www.13Cgunreviews.com check them out, we won’t rehash most of that here. Read more »
A look at the Geissele SSP (Single Stage Precision) Trigger and announcement of the Give Away starting right now, with the drawing being held on November 13th 2018.
On a recent ‘Fridays with 13C’ Instagram live stream I was talking about installing a Geissele SSP trigger into our Freedom Nitride carbine from Palmetto State Armory . During the stream Geissele joined and offered to donate one to give away to our subscribers, I’d like to say right now how thankful and grateful I am to Geissele for their generosity.
The SSP itself is a fantastic single stage trigger with a weight of 3.5 pounds. Read more »
When I was choosing the 510C, I almost went with my old standby, a red dot. I’m glad I went with the green instead.
A few years back a couple of companies attempted green dots for a second time and they did a decent job if you were only using them on a square range and under ideal lighting conditions. The ones I tried fared poorly in bright sunlight or on very bright backgrounds. If you were shooting in the snow? Forget about it.
Holosun has been working on several new technologies and one of those is their current green dot.
I honestly can’t speak highly enough about it. It’s crisp and clear, something I can have issue due to a slight astigmatism, and can get very, very bright.
If you tried green dots 5~ years ago and were turned off, you really need to give them another look IMO.

Once you start carrying a light you’ll never go without one again. It’s like the pocket knife, you just don’t realize how useful they are until you carry one for a couple of months and then forget it for a day.
Personally I like small lights for EDC and they don’t have to be extremely bright, just useful. That’s a topic for another article but it sets the stage for this article. Read more »
CMMG released some new ambidextrous charging handles recently and we very pleased to see they released one for their Mk47 line of rifles, in addition to one for the AR15.
When we review the Mk47 AKS13 Mutant about 2 years ago a major feature of the rifle was the 30 cal BCG and ability to take AK47 magazines. The downside to that was a rifle which couldn’t have a last round bolt hold (due to the ASK47 mag compatibility) and the lack of easy replacement of the charging handle.
My solution, until now, was to swap out the Read more »
Why is it always cheaper to buy AR-15 uppers and lowers separately? It’s not because of the labor saved by placing an upper onto a lower and pushing in two pins. The answer, like most things, comes down to one word: government. You see, an 11% excise tax is placed upon every completed rifle sold in the US and by not completing an AR, there is an automatic 11% savings that can be passed onto the consumer.
Today we are taking a look at two items from Palmetto State Armory: Read more »
